WHY?
Having done some searches both online and
of photography books for male nudes, I wasn’t
happy nor satisfied with what I found. There seems to
be some bias against male nudity. While there are plenty
of choices for female nudes, there are shockingly few
for male nudes. And of those few that are out there,
the men are presented only semi-nude, or just stay within
some “accepted guidelines”of black and white
photography, shirtless, and no full frontal nudity.
Then there are the other ones which go beyond those
guidelines, but those are geared towards gay men. There
just simply aren’t any sources for heterosexual
women to look at heterosexual men, presented in a way
that women will find erotic! I can tell you for sure
that it isn’t only gay men that like to look at
beautiful naked men! But also for sure, what appeals
to gay men is not the same perspective as that for a
hetero woman. I don’t want to see the models in
effeminate “come take me” poses - I want
to see them being strong, masculine, MEN. I think there
must be other women who share my desire!
There is nothing obscene about a man’s body, it’s
just as beautiful and natural as a woman’s, so why
is an aroused man considered such a taboo, while an aroused
women is just considered “sexy”? It isn’t
fair, it’s sexist, and I think it’s remaining
modern evidence of the control that has been attempted
to be placed on women’s sexuality throughout the
ages. The bodies of both sexes are beautiful, and SEXY...
Like women, men come in all colors, shapes, and sizes
(no pun intended!), and they are beautiful!! I think it’s
about time for this old-fashioned taboo to be dropped.
